A unique and appealing medley of six international carols. Flute and piano open the music with a lively duet of the Ukrainian Bell Carol and use motifs from this duet to bridge from one carol to another. Women’s and men’s voices antiphonally sing the opening phrases of Il est né then come together in harmony in the closing phrase. Gloria In Excelsis Deo, from Poland, adds excitement with its quick and lively tempo. Christ Is Coming, a Russian carol, adds a dancing lightness to the medley. Sleep, My Baby (Suo Gan), a Welsh lullaby, features an alto solo on the stanzas with the choir on the refrain. Mood and tempo shift from the gentle lullaby to the upbeat A Child Is Born In Bethlehem (Et barn er fodt I Betlehem) a Scandinavian carol, that features a medium range solo with choir.
